Husch Blackwell, a Missouri-based law firm that has offices in 18 cities across the U.S., is expanding in Texas.

The firm announced this week it’s added 14 lawyers from Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP to its offices in Houston, Dallas and Austin. Dallas-based Gardere just completed a merger with Milwaukee-based Foley & Lardner LLP on March 30

In Houston, Kate David and Mike Stafford have joined the firm’s Public Law team as partners. Associate Phil Morgan also joined the Public Law team in Houston, and associate Ben Stephens will join later this month. All four Houston lawyers are members of Husch Blackwell’s Real Estate, Development and Construction industry group, according to a press release.

Steven Camp joined as a partner in the firm's Banking and Finance group, part of the Financial Services and Capital Markets industry group. He works out of both the Houston and Dallas offices and previously served as chair of Gardere’s Banking and Finance practice. Reuben Rosof also joined as a partner in the Banking and Finance group and works out of the Houston office.

Joining Husch Blackwell’s Dallas office are:

  • Scott Davis, a partner in Husch Blackwell’s national insurance coverage and litigation team, which is part of the Financial Services and Capital Markets industry group
  • David Timmins, a partner in the national insurance coverage and litigation team
  • Jason Heep, a partner in the national insurance coverage and litigation team
  • W. Brian Memory, a partner in the Banking and Finance group, which is part of the Financial Services and Capital Markets industry group
  • Eric Levy, senior counsel in the national insurance coverage and litigation team
  • Matt Crockett, of counsel in the Banking and Finance group
  • Caleb Rush, associate in the Banking and Finance group

Mark Vane was the only addition in Austin.

Earlier this week, a lobbying firm affiliated with Husch Blackwell set up offices in Houston and Austin. Vane, who has worked on multiple lobbying campaigns in the Texas capital, joined the Austin office of Husch Blackwell Strategies. Stafford, a former Harris County attorney who focuses his practice on resolving government-related disputes, including condemnations, regulatory compliance and administrative matters, joined HB Strategies in Houston.

“The addition of this high-profile group signals to our clients the depth of our commitment to Texas,” Paul Eberle, Husch Blackwell’s CEO, said in the firm’s April 2 press release. “Additionally, our new colleagues represent a major investment by the firm in the industries we serve. Our enhanced capabilities in banking, insurance, and real estate provide a compelling service enhancement for our clients.”

Husch Blackwell opened its Houston office in 2013.
