Texas Lobby Power Rankings Places Husch Blackwell Strategies in Top Two
In just the first year of existence, Husch Blackwell Strategies' Texas lobby team is already considered one of the top law firm lobby outfits in the state.
Husch Blackwell Strategies was named in the top two "Law Firm Lobby Shops" in the 2019 "Texas Lobby Power Rankings" released this week by Capitol Inside, a web-based publication dedicated to Texas politics. The team recognized includes Husch Blackwell Strategies' Mark Vane and Husch Blackwell’s Christopher Hughes.
The publication also named Vane as one of the state's Top 15 "Hired Guns," a list which ranks the top lobbyists in the state. Vane’s clients include Walmart, Caterpillar, the "Big 4" accounting firms and the Texas Oil and Gas Association.
Vane was also recently featured in Texas Super Lawyers magazine in an article titled "The Dealmaker," spotlighting Mark’s aptitude and success in the field.
“He’s got all the bases covered,” Kathy Barber, senior governmental affairs representative for Caterpillar, said in that article. “Lobbying is all about relationships, and Mark is so strong on that. [Recently] I was at the Capitol and we’re walking through the halls, and you cannot walk past someone without them knowing him,” said Barber.
Chris Hughes is heavily involved with all aspects of the competitive electric market in Texas and in issues related to electric generation, renewable energy development, transmission infrastructure and retail competition. His practice primarily involves managing public risk for electric energy companies and other large corporations through agency rulemaking, contested cases and legislative advocacy.
